This is such an eye-catching and vibrant Dahlia. It is one of the increasingly popular anemone-flowered varieties. In mid- to late summer, the buds of Dahlia 'Richards Fortune' emerge into pink daisy-like flowers with a much darker centre, before fully opening into an all-over intense lilac. Then, if you look closely, you'll see the merest hint of glistening white on the tips of the petals in the tightly-packed central boss. When open, the blooms of Dahlia 'Richards Fortune' are around 10cm across. They'll make a beautiful display in sunny borders, or deep patio containers. Flowers will keep appearing until the first frosts of autumn. At the peak of its flowering, the plant is around 1m tall.
The recently-introduced Dahlia 'Richards Fortune' makes an impact from a distance and, when you're drawn in for a closer look, you won't be disappointed. The intensity of its colour, combined with the inner and outer petals…there are just so many details to take in! It has been known for this type of dahlia to fool many a gardener into thinking they are looking at a completely different flower, including Zinnia or Echinacea—and you can see why. Oh, and it is also great as a cut flower, for stunning arrangements indoors.
